What better fit for a movie about monsters than The Hit House’s music named after dragons?

Acclaimed director Juan Antonio Bayona (The Orphanage & The Impossible) created the visually stunning drama, A Monster Calls, based on the award-winning children’s fantasy novel by Patrick Ness (from an original idea by Siobhan Dowd). The often dark tale deals with 12-year-old Conor’s (Lewis MacDougall) attempt to deal with his mother’s (Felicity Jones) terminal illness & the relentless harrassent by the local school bully Harry (James Melville). One night, Conor finally encounters a massive, ancient tree monster (Liam Neeson) who comes to tell him stories. Their travels soon take the young man on a fairy-tale journey exploring the heights of courage & loss, faith & truth.

The Hit House composers Dan Diaz & Martyn Corbet, respectively contributed their songs, “Haku,” from our TALES album at 0:45 to the above spot & “Smaug,” from our EPIC FUNNY BONE The Third: Orchestral Escapades album, at 0:40-1:32 to the below featurette.

When the darkness calls & you need the guide of music, look to The Hit House to find the perfect musical monster to give your campaign that extra bite. Starring Liam Neeson, Felicity Jones, Sigourney Weaver, & Lewis MacDougall, see A Monster Calls on December 23 in a theater near you.
