  • VALERIAN… BECAUSE, THE BEATLES!

Luc Besson’s singular scifi saga “Valerian and the City of a Thousand Planets”, trailer features The Hit House’s music!

Famed Director Luc Besson’s newest movie, Valerian and the City of A Thousand Planets, dropped its official trailer. Create Advertising and Heather Kreamer needed iconic music to underscore the dreamlike wonder of Besson’s incredible action sequences in a surreal world of outer space fantasy. The Hit House’s composer Scott Miller responded with a reimagined music sequence to the lyrics of The Beatles’s haunting song, “Because.” Chad J. Hughes, contributed his sound design talents as well, by creating some of the elements used in the trailer.

Based on the classic graphic novel series, Valerian (Dane DeHaan) and Laureline (Cara Delevingne) are special operatives for the government of the human territories. They are charged with maintaining order throughout the universe. Valerian wants more than a professional relationship with his partner Laureline, and with romantic fervor he shamelessly chases after her. She however continuously denies his advances, due to his questionable romantic past and her traditional values. When their Commander (Clive Owen) issues a new directive, the odd couple set-off on a mission to the incredible intergalactic city of Alpha. A constantly growing metropolis, it is made up of seventeen million citizens who unite their talents, technology and resources for the benefit of all. However, all is not well though in this seeming paradise of progress, as dark forces are at work, placing all races in mortal peril.

Besson’s vision as writer and director manifests itself in a trailer that teases the epic scale of his forthcoming pièce de résistance of his already monumental oeuvre. What better way to add the perfect music, than from the giant of another industry, namely The Beatles? Said Scott Miller on composing the piece, “To get to play around with the greatness of The Beatles’ track is most musician’s dream, so when this came along there was lots of excitement. As I say this I still haven’t seen the trailer so there is even more excitement brewing up in me right now!!!!” On his sound design contributions, Chad Hughes stated, “It’s an honor providing sound design for the Valerian trailer, and being part of such an epic and visually stunning film.”

Valerian hits theaters next July 21. There is only one place The Hit House will be on that date, watching this enthralling journey to another world… After, of course, having put in a hard day’s work on trailer music for your next movie trailer. Right?

  • TROLLS’ COLORS ARE BEAUTIFUL

DreamWorks Animation’s Trolls uses The Hit House’s enhancements to “True Colors” in the new Anna Kendrick & Justin Timberlake trailer.

In a movie about about trolls & happiness, no song fits better than Cyndi Lauper’s “True Colors.” To make the song work for DreamWorks Animation’s newest Trolls trailer, The Hit House’s Scott Miller made enhancements from 1:56-2:11.

The creators of Shrek, created a smart, funny, & irreverent comedy about the universal search for happiness & the lengths the trolls will go to find it. Poppy, the perpetually optimistic troll, voiced by Anna Kendrick & Branch, the perpetually pessimistic troll, voiced by Justin Timberlake, set off on a rollicking adventure of incredible color to save their friends who have been taken by the evil Bergens. Throughout the movie music becomes the key to their survival as the soundtrack, produced by Timberlake, features five original songs by Timberlake, Ariana Grande, Anna Kendrick & Gwen Stefani, as well as classic hits from the 1960s through the 1980s.

“I feel music adds so much to animation, it just feels like they belong together,” said Anna Kendrick, as Timberlake enforced its centrality, “It’s the music that rescues them.” The trolls themselves said, “Happiness is inside of all of us, sometimes you just need someone to help you find it.” Next time you need the happy, let The Hit House help you find it.
