Amazon Prime Video’s “Sound of Metal” Official Trailer arrives with The Hit House’s Sounds

Even moments of stillness need sound as bookends. Thus when Amazon Prime Video launched the Official Trailer for the upcoming Sound of Metal film, Jax Film turned to The Hit House for just the right music to highlight the plight of a punk-metal drummer slowly going deaf. Fortunately, we had just what they needed & composer Steve R. Davis’s “Sapwood” & “Cork” from our RE:ACTION LAYERS album were the perfect fit. The results reverberate for themselves in this stirring trailer.

Directed by Darius Marder, Amazon Studios’s Sound of Metal, takes on the harrowing journey of Ruben, a drummer who begins to lose his hearing. After a series of late night shows during which his hearing starts disappearing, an auditory specialist tells him that his prognosis is bleak. Faced with the reality of probably losing a sense that not only ties him to his passion, but also his band-mate girlfriend Lou, his tenuous grip on post-heroin sobriety seems to be at risk. From love & the need to have him survive, Lou checks him into a sober house for the deaf, where Ruben grapples with the reality of his new identity & the loving acceptance of a community that he’d initially prefer not to be a part of. Sound of Metal delivers tour de force performances by stars Riz Ahmed, Olivia Cooke, Paul Raci, Lauren Ridloff & Mathieu Amalric.

The irony is not lost on us that The Hit House was privileged to contribute to a trailer about the loss of sound. But the beauty exists within the knowledge that we had created music for the periphery & boundaries of what is needed in our industry. Being able to participate in promoting this Amazon Studios film through Jax, allowed us to demonstrate the true breadth of our sound offerings. From near silence to the most grandiose of trailer & video game music scores, The Hit House has you covered. No matter the scope of your next project, do not hesitate to ask us for the ideal music, sound design, or music supervision. Because if we don’t already have it in our vast library, we’ll certainly be happy to create it for you. Until then, we look forward to experiencing Sound of Metal which arrives in theaters on November 20, & on Amazon Prime Video on December 4.
