THE JUNGLE BOOK TURNS ONE

THE JUNGLE BOOK TURNS ONE
February 7, 2017 Tom Ito

It’s been a year since Disney’s “The Jungle Book” trailer premiered with The Hit House’s trailer music.

Hard to believe that since The Hit House’s trailer music first debuted for Disney’s The Jungle Book there have been 5 additional spots & featurettes with The Hit House’s music, it became the #1 movie in the world, our music arrangement appeared in the actual movie, it took a world-wide box office total of 966.6 million USD, & the various spots garnered 3 Golden Trailer Award wins! The 2016 live-action epic adventure, based off of Rudyard Kipling’s original eponymous story, directed by Jon Favreau & starring Neel Sethi debuted on April 15, but for The Hit House the music began even before the first spot.

On February 7, 2016 The Jungle Book’s “Official Big Game Trailer” (see above trailer) debuted with The Hit House composers Scott Lee Miller & William August Hunt’s arrangement, recording, (& whistles) of “The Bare Necessities”! Closely thereafter on February 21, the “Live The Legend” TV spot dropped with the same composers’ “The End of the Jungle” music (see below trailer).

To continue building the marketing for the imminent release, a “Legacy – Featurette” (see spot below) was released to give audiences a “behind-the-scenes” look from Favreau’s viewpoint as well as that of the various voiceover actors including Bill Murray (Baloo), Lupita Nyong’o (Raksha), Idris Elba (Shere Khan), Ben Kingsley (Bagheera), & Scarlett Johansson (Kaa).

The Jungle Book’s opening weekend, “Roars at the Box Office, Opening at No. 1
Disney’s live-action remake of animated film brings in $103.6 million in U.S. and Canada” [The Wall Street Journal], was a smashing success. It was especially exciting for The Hit House as composers Scott Lee Miller & William August Hunt were credited as “Additional Song Arrangers” for their work on “The Bare Necessities” arrangement. However, the music fun was not over as there were two more spots that included The Hit House’s music with, “The Making of The Jungle Book,” launching on April 27 & the spot, “Disney’s The Jungle Book – NOW PLAYING In Theatres in 3D!” on April 30 (see both below).

Even after the movie’s premiere & the final spots released, the trailer music journey & accolades did not end. The creative advertising teams, for whose spots The Hit House had created music, were nominated for multiple Golden Trailer Awards & won 3! Vibe Creative ended up winning “Best Original Score” for The Jungle Book, “Mowgli.” While Create Advertising Group won both “Best Original Score TV Spot” & “Best Animation/Family TV Spot” for The Jungle Book “Legend.” We were happy & blessed to have had the opportunity to work with such driven & talented creative teams, while also highly appreciative of the awards that were won.

Today you can stream Disney’s The Jungle Book on Netflix & order it on Blu-Ray, Digital HD, & DVD. Whichever way you watch it, be sure to listen for the music by The Hit House composers Scott Lee Miller & William August Hunt, look for their names in the credits as “Additional Song Arrangers,” & also enjoy the music on the below SoundCloud links. Remember, it’s all about the bare necessities, of which for The Hit House, music is the number one!
