  • WHEN CURSES AWAKE…

The thrills & chills of an ancient curse’s trailer, amplified with The Hit House’s vocals & music by Tori Letzler.

Warner Bros. & New Line Cinema set the tone for Halloween with their new trailer for The Curse of La Llorona. A thrilling look into the darkness of a tormented, demented, & raging soul, the trailer needed to convey the ideal tension between fear, horror, & a wistful longing to ease the pain of the past. So The Hit House’s Tori Letzler stepped up to deliver both vocals & custom music, based off the Mexican folk song La Llorona, for the teaser trailer.

Directed by Michael Chaves, The Curse of La Llorona tells the tale of the weeping woman, an evil apparition not of our world or the next, but cursed to forever wander the earth for the sins she committed when she was still mortal. Once a mother, in a fit of jealous rage, she drowned both of her children & then promptly threw herself into a roiling river as well. The grisly murder-suicide, borne from the anguish of lost love, has now cursed her to eternally skulk through the shadows of our world seeking out children to replace her own. Much time has passed & her desperation to replace her own lost loves has grown stronger. Now in 1970s Los Angeles, she is back to make her final atonement. Her targets become social worker Anna Garcia, played by Linda Cardellini, & her young children. As the supernatural realm of evil intersects with that of the living, only a disillusioned priest & his fringe mysticism may be the answer to ultimately vanquishing the looming horror. Also starring, Patricia Velasquez, Sean Patrick Thomas, & Raymond Cruz, The Curse of La Llorona arrives in theaters on April 19.

When it comes to defeating evil spirits, definitely call your nearest psychic, medium, or exorcist, but… when it comes to building up the nail-biting tension, ghastly horror, & sheer terror through music, vocals, & sound design, then definitely make The Hit House your first call. We’ll be toiling in our studio, making trailers more & more horrific (unless you hit the “mute” button, that’s our kryptonite), until The Curse of La Llorona arrives next April. At that time, we’ll be in theaters, probably covering our eyes in fear… but never our ears.

  • HONORING THE BRAVEST

Netflix shines a light on America’s Heroes.

The United States of America’s most prestigious award for valor is the Medal of Honor. It involves an action against an enemy force & is usually presented by the President of the United States of America in Congress’s name to a recipient. Netflix created a docu-drama series highlighting the true stories of heroism of 8 recipients, who left their mark on this world through their service & selfless actions. The Hit House composer William August Hunt was privileged to create music for Netflix’s trailer to highlight this moving series on ordinary people, put in extraordinary situations, who acted on a level above & beyond the normal call of duty.

Directed by James Moll & Executive Produced by Academy Award Winner Robert Zemeckis, Medal of Honor shines a spotlight on soldiers who made unfathomable sacrifices on behalf of their fellow citizens. The 8 part anthology series, currently streaming on Netflix, is told through a style of hybrid documentary & live-action footage. The stories range from World War II, to the Korean War, & Vietnam, & include the gallantry of: Edward Carter, Richard L. Etchberger, Hiroshi “Hershey” Miyamura, Vito Bertoldo, Sylvester Antolak, Ty M. Carter, Joseph Vittori, & Clint Romesha.

A series on what one recipient reflected succinctly upon, “Combat is not a great thing to be in, & it’s not a motivation to hate, by no means. It’s a motivation to love your brothers.” The Hit House’s music helped to underscore the momentous nature of the most extreme sacrifices these people made for each other & their country. Ultimately, their acts were done out of love, & earned in the hardest way possible. Watch their legacies in Medal of Honor, now streaming, only on Netflix.

    Pure. Raw. Exact.
    As so in music.

Unelaborated melodies can convey the deepest of feelings, the smallest of notes can fill the largest of spaces.
